Verification System Design

Verification fixture, also known as a test fixture or test jig, is a specialized piece of equipment or apparatus used in the manufacturing and quality control processes to verify the functionality and performance of electronic Hardware Design, its subassemblies, Firmware or entire embedded Product.

Verification System Design are primarily designed and used for their repeatability and autonomous nature with a very little to no human intervention. They can range from a simple test jig for testing a board of the size of a credit card to most complex systems integrating a unique set of hardware, firmware and software.

Aspects of Verification System Design

Key aspects of Verification fixture includes but are not limited to Automatic IC Programming, Functional Testing, Consistency and repeatability, Customization and Selectivity, In-Circuit Testing, Boundary Scan Testing etc. Companies also use these test fixtures to address some of the RMA units which are returned after field failures and save a huge amount of time otherwise spent in debugging and finding the root cause of the failures.

Verification System Design uses the same fundamental as in any Embedded Product Design process. In addition to Hardware and Firmware Design and development there are other sections as below which are specifically designed as per out customer needs.

• Mechanical Design for the Fixture or Jig as an enclosure.
• Full software Test suit using industry standard software development tools like LabVIEW® by NI® National Instruments.

Depending on our customer and project needs we also use Data acquisition Units (DAQ), along with various sensors and IO connectivity units and craft a complete solution. These test fixtures are quite sturdy in operation and repeatability is obtained easily. Moreover same fixture can be customized to used some selective tests are per need.

With the Hardware and Product updates, customers can decide to get a new fixture designed or get the existing fixture updated. Updates to existing fixture are conditional as other aspects are included in the product design updates.
